West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew has told the club’s officials that he wants to sign Danny Ings from Liverpool in the January transfer window, according to The Northern Echo.

It has been reported that Pardew, who recently replaced Tony Pulis as the West Brom manager, has told the club’s officials that he would like to make the Liverpool forward one of his leading targets next month.

The Northern Echo has claimed that Pardew tried to sign the 25-year-old in the summer of 2014 when he was in charge of Newcastle United, but the forward decided to remain at Burnley for the 2014-15 season before joining Liverpool in the summer of 2015.

Meanwhile, Michael Owen has predicted Newcastle United to draw with Leicester City this weekend.

The Magpies will face the Foxes at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

“Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has never lost three successive home PL games but the Magpies have only won once since mid-September and their dip in form is a major concern,” former Newcastle striker Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.

“Leicester boss Claude Puel – on the other hand – has never won three successive PL games but goes into the trip to St James’s Park on the back of successive wins.

“A point may suit the hosts more than the visitors but I expect to see an entertaining draw.”

A footnote added: “Tip: Game to finish in a draw at 23/10.”
