According to Italian newspaper Il Giornale, Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey has turned down an approach from Newcastle United.

It’s claimed that Newcastle were willing to pay €15million (£13.5million) for Ramsey, but he isn’t interested in a move to Tyneside.

Juventus were seemingly looking forward to a ‘rich capital gain’ on a player they signed for free, but it has gone ‘up in smoke’ with Ramsey uninterested.

The 29-year-old only joined Juve on a free transfer from Arsenal last summer, but he started just 11 league games last season.

Juventus would seemingly allow Ramsey to move on this summer, but offloading his staggering wages could be a problem.

As noted by BBC Sport, Ramsey earns £400,000-a-week at Juventus, and there is absolutely no chance of Newcastle paying that kind of cash.

In fact, it’s hard to believe that Newcastle would even be making a move in their current situation, and this instead sounds like a move put forward when a takeover seemed possible.

Newcastle simply don’t have the budget to sign Ramsey right now, and this is likely a rumour that Magpies fans will easily move on from unless a takeover does end up being resurrected.
