According to Marca, Gareth Bale will be returning to Real Madrid in the summer, as Tottenham aren’t even considering the possibility of keeping him.

The Spanish news outlet state that the 83-cap Wales international’s time in north London hasn’t gone according to Real Madrid’s plan.

As a result, he will return to the Santiago Bernabeu in July, causing a major problem for Zinedine Zidane.

In what way? Well, as a result of Brexit, Bale is now considered to be a non-EU player, which takes up a special role in Real Madrid’s squad.

Marca describe non-EU slots as ‘precious’ – which tells you all you need to know.

They add that the door at Tottenham is likely to slam shut behind Bale when his season-long loan deal eventually ends.

Their article ends by saying that the ‘Bale problem’ looks set to carry on haunting Real Madrid – that’s not too kind, to say the least.

The Spanish media really seem to have it out for the Welshman, but that isn’t important right now.

What is of significance is the fact that Bale’s romantic return to Tottenham has largely been a failure.

Unless he can discover an incredible run of form between now and the end of the season, it seems unfathomable that he’ll stay at Spurs.
