Last night, during Argentina’s 0-0 draw with Brazil, there was a worrying moment for Tottenham and Antonio Conte.
When chasing down Matheus Cunha, Cristian Romero appeared to pull something in his left leg after bringing the striker down.
The £42.5m man earned a yellow card for the challenge, although that was the least of his worries as he sunk to the turf holding his leg.
What’s the story?
Well, it goes without saying that Romero has injured himself.
The 23-year-old must undergo tests to see if he can face Leeds this Sunday, although he did manage to continue playing before Argentina substituted him.
TyC Sports claim that Romero ‘alarmed everyone’ in the Argentina camp after hitting the deck, with his head in his hands.

His initial reaction was certainly worrying, and suggested that he wasn’t in a good way after the clash with Cunha.
Tottenham must rest Cristian Romero
Since arriving from Atalanta in August, Romero has slowly become an impressive cog at the back for Spurs, and Conte seems to like him.
Despite that, he must be rested this weekend.
The temptation to play him, should he declare himself fit, will surely be strong as Leeds are a dangerous outfit.

The likes of Dan James and Raphinha can certainly cause issues.
Additionally, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Joe Rodon aren’t the most reliable options, so Conte will be keen to use Romero.
However, in terms of the bigger picture, Tottenham must give Romero the weekend off for recovery – he’s too important to lose in the long-term.
