According to AS, Liverpool have thought about bringing Real Madrid’s Nacho Fernández to Anfield following a number of serious injuries.
The Spanish news outlet claim that Jürgen Klopp considered the 22-cap Spain international as injuries plagued Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip this term.
AS state that Roma and Juventus are also keen on the 31-year-old, who has won a fair bit of silverware across his career.
The Liverpool target is a four-time Champions League winner, while he’s also won two La Liga titles as well as four Club World Cups.
You can see why Liverpool were attracted to him.
AS don’t make it clear whether or not the Reds will try to sign Nacho again in the summer.

By the sounds of it, the Spaniard was just an option before Liverpool signed Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak.
However, if Klopp is plotting a summer swoop, he’s identified an excellent option.
Nacho has played second fiddle behind Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane for years now, and he seems happy to do so. One Real Madrid fan page – Managing Madrid – even described him as one of the best squad players on the planet.

In that respect, he doesn’t sound like the type to kick up a fuss when Van Dijk, Gomez and Matip return to full fitness and start challenging for starting berths again.
Additionally, the Real Madrid No.6 can also play at left-back and right-back, according to Transfermarkt.
That would make him even more of an asset to Klopp – everyone loves a solid utility player, just like James Milner.
