Red Bull Salzburg will not stand in Dominik Szoboszlai’s way if the £18 million midfielder is offered a big-money move this summer, Calciomercato says of the reported Arsenal and Leicester City transfer target.
By now, the dominant force of Austrian football know how things work.
Salzburg sold both Erling Haaland and Takumi Minamino as recently as January, and one of the firmest stepping stones in European football look set to lose another coveted youngster sooner rather than later.
Arsenal have allegedly identified set-piece specialist Szoboszlai as the player capable of adding some cutting edge and creativity to a side who have looked tougher, tighter but often toothless since Mikel Arteta replaced Unai Emery in the dugout (Football London).
A move to Leicester is on the cards too, with the Sun pointing out that the Hungary international is exactly the kind of twinkle-toed technician who tends to thrive under the forward-thinking Brendan Rodgers.
And, as is the nature of the beast, Salzburg are under no illusions that Szoboszlai’s time in the Austrian Bundesliga is coming to an end. Calciomerceto reports that the seven-assist midfielder will be sold as long as someone is willing to meet his £18 million price-tag.
As it stands, however, Arsenal and Leicester appear to be up against it. Prospective new AC Milan boss Ralf Rangnick has allegedly made signing Szoboszlai a priority should he take the reigns at the San Siro and the man himself is apparently agitating for a move to Italy.
Speaking to Goal last year, however, the 19-year-old said a move to Arsenal would be an ‘honour’. There is still hope yet.
