Liverpool are showing a firm interest in James Maddison as they rival Tottenham Hotspur for the Leicester City playmaker.
The Reds are going to be linked with every midfielder under the sun ahead of the summer window.
Jude Bellingham is the top target but that will be a very difficult deal.
Liverpool need to have alternative targets in mind and may believe that buying two or three midfielders for the same price as Bellingham is best for them.
Leicester star Maddison is the latest name in the mix with 90Min reporting that Liverpool have registered their interest.
It’s stated that Liverpool have made contact with Maddison’s representatives to make their interest clear.
The report adds that Leicester are likely to be open too selling Maddison for around £50million this summer.
Maddison is out of contract in 2024 and Leicester may need to sell before he can leave for nothing.

Liverpool face Tottenham Hotspur battle for James Maddison
90Min’s report claims that Tottenham have also been in contact with Maddison’s representatives about a summer move.
In fact, Tottenham’s interest has been heavily noted this week.
The Telegraph reported on Wednesday that Tottenham are leading the race to sign Maddison this summer.
Tottenham have liked Maddison for years now and seemingly believe this is the right time to make their move.
Just hours later though, Liverpool’s interest has been reported as the Reds weigh up a host of midfielders.
Maddison, 26, may well need to leave Leicester whether they stay up or not.
Maddison has been at the King Power Stadium for five years now and has continued to shine this season with nine goals and six assists despite Leicester’s struggles.
Having finally forced his way back into the England squad, Maddison needs to make a big move and take the next step in his career.
Liverpool or Tottenham would make sense for Maddison and it sounds like both clubs are already lining up summer moves.
