According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez is pushing for a move to city rivals Atletico this summer.
The Colombian is clearly out of favour at the Bernabeu and the Galacticos will have to sell him now to avoid losing him for free at the end of next season.
The report claims that Atleti boss Diego Simeone would love to have the two-time Champions League winner at his disposal next season, but it is still unclear if the Rojiblancos can afford him.
There is, however, one club who should not have any problem affording him and that’s Newcastle United.
The Magpies, once their take over is complete, will have all the money they need to sign the top players and Rodriguez could be one of them.
The report claims there is strong interest in Rodriguez from Newcastle United, who are on the lookout for a new attacker this summer.

The former Porto man doesn’t view a move to Tyneside as a bad option according to the report but his first-choice destination is Atletico Madrid, just like it was last summer.
The fact that Rodriguez hasn’t completely ruled out a move to Newcastle should come as good news to the club and their fans.
If Atleti cannot afford him, which is likely to happen due to everything that has been going on in the world, Newcastle could become the frontrunners and possibly win the race to sign Rodriguez this summer.
