Barcelona are ‘waiting’ to see if Newcastle United will try and sign Philippe Coutinho from them in January, AS Sport reports.
Coutinho bid incoming?
Newcastle have been linked with Coutinho and he could be the sort of high profile signing to really mark the new era at St. James’ Park.
Barcelona certainly appear to believe that it’s possible that Newcastle come in for him.
Reports in Spain claim that the Catalan club are keen to offload the Brazilian and they are now just waiting for the Magpies’ offer.
Barcelona would even be prepared to accept a loan deal, if there was a buy clause inserted.
It’s fair to say that Coutinho’s time at Barca hasn’t gone according to plan, since his mega money move.
Sale needed
The playmaker has never been able to show his top form and his exorbitant wages are now hurting the club during their time of financial need.

Despite that, if Coutinho was to arrive at Newcastle he would be a highly exciting addition.
The creator, who has been described as ‘phenomenal’ by Roberto Firmino (FIFA), was once one of the Premier League’s leading stars during his time with Liverpool.
And if Newcastle could coax him back to his best he is exactly the sort of player who could help them climb out of relegation trouble and into the upper echelons of the table.
