Manchester City are reportedly willing to accept a €45m (£38m) offer from FC Barcelona for Ferran Torres despite the club valuing the attacker at €60m (£51m).

According to Mundo Deportivo, director of football Txiki Begiristain is ‘ready to accept’ the lowball offer for Torres. As per the report, City see this bid as reasonable for the Spanish international, who is keen to return to his home country.

Despite Barcelona’s financial problems, it appears that the La Liga giants will be able to afford Torres in the January transfer window. Xavi Hernandez is a fan of the City forward, with the attacker viewed as a perfect signing for the Catalan side.

Indeed, the report also states that Torres has told Pep Guardiola personally that he is leaving City. The forward has been something of a revelation for the Manchester side since arriving last summer, with the youngster filling in as a false 9 with remarkable results.

Whilst Torres has been injured this season, the former Valencia star has been productive during his time in Manchester. The winger has bagged 16 goals in 43 appearances for City, with some fans believing the 21-year-old could have replaced Sergio Aguero.

However, it looks like this storyline will never come to fruition, with Torres set to depart for Barcelona this month. Moreover, for City, they must act smartly in replacing the youngster.

With City recouping close to £40m for the winger, a replacement must be signed for the Manchester giants. However, there’s only one viable option for Guardiola’s side to bring to the club in January, that name being Erling Haaland.

The Borussia Dortmund star seems almost destined to join City in 2022. And with the Manchester giants now receiving a decent fee for Torres from Barcelona, the Premier League side now have the extra funds needed to push through the signing of Haaland, who is too perfect a player for the club to turn down.
