Manchester City have reportedly been offered the chance to sign PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa, with Chelsea also in the mix to sign the fullback.
According to RTL France via Sports Illustrated, the Ligue 1 left-back is set to leave Paris this month, with the Premier League an option for Kurzawa this January. And City have now been ‘offered the chance’ to sign the defender.
As reported by Sky Sports News, Chelsea are also keen on the 29-year-old defender as the Blues look to sign a new left-back to provide cover for the injured Ben Chilwell. However, City now look to be in the mix for the defender.
As per RTL France, though, Kurzawa has been offered to City to act as an understudy to Joao Cancelo, who has made the left-back position his own in the past two seasons after being shifted out into the role.
The Portuguese international has a case of being the best defender in the Premier League this season. Yet aside from Oleksandr Zinchenko, City have little depth in the position, hence the proposal of Kurzawa.
Indeed, with the defender earning a reported £89,000-a-week, Kurzawa would no doubt be eager for a pay rise should City make a move for the former AS Monaco star. And for Pep Guardiola’s side, they should consider other options.
City can sign a better, cheaper and younger left-back than Kurzawa

A backup to Cancelo is a smart move from City this January, however, the club can do better than signing Kurzawa, who this season has hardly featured for PSG under Mauricio Pochettino.
At 29-years-old and earning almost £90,000-a-week, City can do infinitely better than the Ligue 1 defender this window. And with Chelsea also sniffing around for Kurzawa, the Manchester side could be fine with letting the PSG fullback join their west London rivals.
