Manchester City forward Ferran Torres has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with FC Barcelona on a five-year contract with the European giants.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the La Liga side have agreed on personal terms for the Spanish international.
City are hoping to secure around €50m (£42m) for Torres. However, Barcelona can’t match this fee in one single payment given their horrific financial situation.
As per the report, Torres formally asked Pep Guardiola if he could leave this January, with the City boss accepting that the youngster can depart if Barcelona can match the English side’s financial demands.
Torres has not featured for City since September after suffering a foot injury that has kept the attacker out for most of the season.
However, it now looks like the winger has played his last game for the Premier League club. Indeed, a move to Spain has never looked more likely for the 21-year-old.
Torres transfer to Barcelona could hint at striker move for City

Selling Torres might seem like a strange decision from City given the attacker’s impressive goalscoring record for the club. But, this transfer could open the door for the Manchester giants to bring in a natural striker in 2022.
After all, whilst goals have not been an issue for City this season, a true number 9 could be what pushes Guardiola’s side over the edge to reclaim the Premier League title. Moreover, selling Torres to Barcelona to recoup some funds is an ideal solution for all parties.
