According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clark is seen as a last resort by West Bromwich Albion.
Earlier this week, reports emerged that the Baggies had made a £4.5 million bid for the defender.
All indications had been that Villa boss Roberto di Matteo was determined to keep his defender as he sees him as a key part of his plans moving forward.

But it appears that he may not face a fight to keep him after all, with the Baggies not as keen as first thought.
According to the Birmingham Mail, they are yet to show any interest in the Republic of Ireland international.
Indeed, according to their report, a bid looks unlikely to happen either as they claim he is seen as a last resort by the Baggies, despite manager Tony Pulis being a fan.

Much is likely to rest on the future of current Baggies defender James Chester, who wants more game time at the Hawthorns.
He specifically wants to play at centre back rather than the full back position he has often occupied under Pulis.
Should those assurances not be made he may seek an exit, and that could see them turn towards a move for Clark. At present though, he is only a last resort for them.
