Chris Hughton has reportedly held talks with Sheffield Wednesday about succeeding Steve Bruce at Hillsborough.

According to a report from the Sheffield Star, Chris Hughton is one of the managers to have held talks with Sheffield Wednesday about the Hillsborough post, but he is understood to be holding out for a Premier League job.
The new Championship season is less than a fortnight away, but Wednesday are yet to appoint a manager for the coming campaign after Steve Bruce departed to take the Newcastle United job.
The Sheffield Star reports that over 100 applicants have made contact with the Owls about the role, and discussions have now been held with Hughton, while Tony Pulis is under serious consideration for the role.
Unfortunately for the Wednesday fans who are keen to see Hughton take over, the Star adds that while the former Brighton boss is keen to return to the dugout, he is setting his sights on a top flight job.

It does appear to be a blow that Hughton does not seem to be overly keen to take the Wednesday job. His spell at the Amex Stadium may have ended in disappointing fashion, but he has a very good record in the Championship, guiding Newcastle and Brighton to promotion.
But having had so many applications for the role, perhaps there is reason for the fans to be optimistic about who is coming through the door. Wednesday are one of the bigger clubs in the division, so you would imagine that there are going to be some exciting names registering an interest in the job.
