Report: Chris Coleman surprised and disappointed by sacking from Sunderland

Sunderland parted company with Chris Coleman on Sunday, in a shock move.

According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland boss Chris Coleman was taken completely by surprise by his sacking at the Stadium of Light.

Coleman was let go on Sunday, with Ellis Short managing to sell the Wearsiders.

Coleman had wanted to stay in charge at Sunderland and attempt lead them back into the Championship.

And the Welsh boss is disappointed that he hasn’t been given the chance to right the wrongs of this campaign.

Coleman took charge at Sunderland mid-way through the campaign, and although he failed to spark a revival, there was an admission that he was restricted in what he could have done at the Stadium of Light.

However, Sunderland appear to have decided that he isn’t the right man to take them forward.

The Black Cats will need to make major alterations this summer, as they prepare for life in League One.

At the moment the likes of Kevin Phillips and Mick McCarthy are among the bookies’ favourites to land the Black Cats’ vacant managerial job.
