Everton and Southampton reportedly wanted to bring St Etienne’s Selnaes to the Premier League with La Liga champions Barcelona interested too.

Ole Selnaes has turned down the chance to join Everton or Southampton as he closes in on a money-spinning move to China, according to TEAMtalk.
The Norway international has established himself as one of the best midfielders in France over the last year of so, producing a number of dominant performances in the centre of the park with St Etienne emerging as surprise contenders to quality for the Champions League this season.
Selnaes is renowned for his tough-tackling, ball-winning style but he is a useful presence at the other end of the pitch too, providing five assists in the French top flight.
TEAMtalk report that Everton and Southampton were both willing to pay £12 million to bring him to England, the former apparently seeing Selnaes as a potential replacement for the seemingly PSG-bound Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Even Barcelona have taken a keen interest in the former Rosenborg enforcer.
But it is understood that Selnaes is set to reject a move to England or La Liga in order to join Shenzhen FC in the Far East. Whether he lives to regret this decision remains to be seen.
