West Ham United are reportedly amongst the sides keen on signing Danny Drinkwater from Chelsea.

It would be no surprise if the Blues let Drinkwater go this month. Since joining for £35 million – fee reported by BBC Sport – the 28-year-old has barely featured, making just five Premier League starts in 18 months.
Despite his lack of game-time, he seemingly has a number of options to pick from. The Daily Mail (23/1; page 65) reports that West Ham want the former Leicester City man.
The Mail adds that Fulham and Fener are rivalling Manuel Pellegrini’s side for Drinkwater’s signature. It is unclear what sort of deal Maurizio Sarri is looking for, but it would be a major gamble for any of the interested sides to spend any significant money on Drinkwater.

The midfielder played a vital role in the Foxes’ stunning title win, providing seven assists in that campaign alone. But anything more than a loan move or permanent deal that sees Chelsea take a considerable financial hit seems to be a risky transfer for the likes of West Ham or Fulham.
Pellegrini’s side have looked strong in the middle of the park this term. Declan Rice and Mark Noble have formed an exciting partnership, and while they may perhaps want further depth, they arguably have other areas that require more urgent attention.
