Liverpool want Conor Gallagher but the Chelsea midfielder is currently focused on staying in London rather than heading up north.

That is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who has been speaking to Give Me Sport about Gallagher’s future.

It’s stated that Liverpool do really like Gallagher in terms of his profile and the way he could fit into a Jurgen Klopp midfield.

However, Gallagher doesn’t seem all that interested in moving up north.

Jones claims that Gallagher is actually ‘very determined’ to remain in London moving forward.

‘Family comforts’ are mentioned as a reason for Gallagher’s stance and it would allegedly take a ‘big sell’ to tempt him to Merseyside.

Gallagher hails from Epsom down in Surrey and has been with Chelsea since the age of just eight.

The furthest move north Gallagher has made was to West Bromwich Albion during a 2020-21 loan spell.

Conor Gallagher stance another midfield blow for Liverpool

Liverpool clearly need new midfielders this summer but their top targets appear to be out of reach.

The Reds wanted Jude Bellingham but appear to have backed out of the race amid huge demands from Borussia Dortmund.

There were links to Chelsea star Mason Mount amid uncertainty over his contract situation.

However, there has been new optimism that Mount will end up signing a new deal and staying at Stamford Bridge despite Liverpool interest.

Blues teammate Gallagher has been wanted too but it now seems like a move to Anfield just isn’t in his plans right now.

That’s another midfield setback for Liverpool, who will want plenty of summer business done early.

As it stands though, it seems like they will have to take time to go down their midfield wish list with a host of targets up in the air.
