Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah is on Chelsea’s shortlist of transfer targets this summer, according to Bild.

German journalist Christian Falk told Bild’s YouTube channel on Friday that the Liverpool star was admired by Thomas Tuchel and that he was on the London club’s shortlist.

Salah has been tentatively linked with a move away from Anfield in recent months, but mostly to Spain following comments about Real Madrid and Barcelona earlier in the calendar year.

But speculation about a return to Stamford Bridge is bound to dominate the headlines throughout the summer if this winds up being a legitimate story.

For Liverpool, they cannot afford to lose the former Blues and Roma winger.

Salah, who turns 29 in June, only has a couple of more years at the peak of his powers before speed begins to decline.

And frankly, the Anfield club would be mad to sell him because, well, he’s still their most important player by a distance.

This season, he has scored 29 goals in 46 games under Jurgen Klopp across all competitions.

Klopp, whose sporting director Michael Edwards spent £34 million on the player in 2017 [Sky Sports], labelled Salah as a ‘world class‘ talent back in 2020 and the German coach will know full well that he cannot afford to lose him.
