Chelsea tried to hijack Tottenham’s move for Serge Aurier.

Aurier clinched a move from Spurs to PSG yesterday after a protracted wait to get his work permit approved.
The Blues made an approach for PSG after being snubbed by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but Tottenham were prepared for other clubs attempting to steal in.

This meant Chelsea’s attempts to sign the right-back were futile, as they were effectively locked out of negotiating for the Ivory Coast international.

Tottenham chairman Levy picks up his fair share of flak for doing business late in the window, and that is justified. But this clause shows at the same time how smart he can be when he finally decides to make his move
Spurs signed Aurier for less than half the price they received from Manchester City for Kyle Walker.
If he can re-discover his best performances in France then they may even have upgraded at the position.
