The Independent claim Chelsea are looking to raid bitter London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for striker Fernando Llorente, after Antonio Conte missed out on signing the Spaniard in the summer.

Llorente, 32, was a target for the Blues during the summer but Spurs hijacked a deal between Chelsea and Swansea City on the final day of the summer window – landing the former Juventus target man for £12million.

It is believed that Chelsea want to land Llorente for two reasons. Firstly, the report claims the World Cup winner would prove a cheaper alternative to West Ham United powerhouse Andy Carroll, with the Hammers only willing to sell for £20milion.

Secondly, Conte is keen to form a reunion at Stamford Bridge with Llorente, whom he knows well from the duo’s time at Italian champions Juventus.

Summer signing Alvaro Morata has not had the desired impact required of him, while Michy Batshuayi will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge if Conte can secure a new striker signing.

Llorente joined Spurs after scoring 15 goals in 35 outings for Swansea, but has found the back of the net just twice during 22 league and cup matches in north London as he remains in the shadow of Harry Kane.

It remains to be seen how much Chelsea would have to spend to land Llorente’s signature, with 18 months remaining on his current contract under Mauricio Pochettino.
