According to the Sunday World, Chelsea believe they can blow Liverpool out of the water when it comes to Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
There have been mixed reports about Sancho lately. Last week, Bild suggested that Liverpool are targeting Sancho as a replacement for Mohamed Salah if he leaves.
However, The Independent’s Melissa Reddy has told Sport1 in Germany that Liverpool are unlikely to be able to afford Sancho due to the global pandemic.
Liverpool have allegedly loved Sancho for years, but the money just isn’t right for the Reds having tightened their pursestrings a little over the last year.
That may now open the door for Chelsea to get in, and it’s stated that the Blues are picking out Sancho as their top transfer target this summer.
It’s stated that Chelsea believe they can offer a better financial package to Sancho than Liverpool can, whilst potentially being able to offer Champions League football too.
Roman Abramovich is ‘fully re-engaged’ with the Chelsea project, meaning he is willing to splash the cash on bringing Sancho to Stamford Bridge.
Sancho, 21, has hit 12 goals and 18 assists for Dortmund this season, and a deal to sign him would surely cost close to £100million.
Liverpool simply aren’t in that market right now, and they may end up having to face Sancho twice a year if he makes the move to Chelsea instead.
