Sweden’s Victor Lindelof in action
Chelsea are looking into signing Benfica’s young international defender Victor Lindelof, according to the Mirror.
The report states that Antonio Conte has identified the centre back as an alternative to pricey Serie A targets Leonardo Bonucci and Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Sweden international is a very highly rated youngster, and has been at Portuguese champions Benfica for the last four years after originally coming through at local club Vasteras.

Versatile and powerful, Lindelof has made his six full international appearances this year, fresh after helping Sweden win the European Under-21 championships in the Czech Republic last year. He played every minute of his country’s campaign in France this summer.
This past season also saw the 22-year-old make a breakthrough in his club career in Lisbon, as he made the step up from Benfica’s reserve side to the first team, appearing 25 times and scoring once.

Chelsea’s apparent chase of Lindelof is further evidence that they are very much focused on having solutions for the inevitable time John Terry leaves or retires from Blues duty.
With other central defensive options such as Branislav Ivanovic and Gary Cahill also in their thirties, Chelsea have brought in a host of young defenders to prepare for putting together their next centre back partnerships.
Kurt Zouma has certainly demonstrated his quality in his short time at the club, while the likes of Lindelof, if he arrives, will join Matt Miazga, Michael Hector and Kenneth Omeruo in strengthening the central spots, with the club also eager to retain the services of Andreas Christensen.
