Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse, a player incoming Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of, according to a report.

Football Transfers have reported that Chelsea have joined Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Aston Villa in the race for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

Southampton have been relegated from the Premier League, and it is very likely that the 28-year-old England international midfielder will be on the move in the summer transfer window.

Football Transfers have reported that Chelsea are interested in Ward-Prowse.

The report has noted that incoming Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino “could be key” in a potential deal.

The Argentine boss managed the Englishman when he was in charge of Southampton and is “a fan of the player”, according to the report.

Chelsea could be able to sign James Ward-Prowse from Southampton

In our view, Chelsea could be able to sign James Ward-Prowse from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

We do not think that the 28-year-old will stay at the Saints next season.

Ward-Prowse is one of the best English midfielders around and is at the top of his game at the moment.

We believe that despite being on the books of Southampton his entire club football career so far, Ward-Prowse is very likely to move on.

After all, he is 28 now and the chance to play for a bigger club would be appealing to him.

Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are a global brand, and the chance to play under Pochettono at Stamford Bridge could be very tempting for Ward-Prowse.
