Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are now actively trying to sign Manchester City central defender Aymeric Laporte, a player Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want.
Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has told GiveMeSport that Chelsea have asked for information about Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte.
While Galetti has said that no talks are going on between Chelsea and treble-winners City, that the Blues have asked for information about the £130,000-a-week (SalarySport) Spain international central defender shows that they are really keen on him.
And this will come as a blow for Tottenham Hotspur.
The Mirror reported last week that Tottenham want to sign Laporte from Premier League rivals City.
The report claimed that the Citizens are looking for £60 million in transfer fees for the 29-year-old.
Galetti said: “Aymeric Laporte is among the names on the list of Chelsea as a possible reinforcement this summer.
“No talks are ongoing to date. Chelsea’s aim is to strengthen other roles but, in the past weeks, the Blues requested info on him.”

In our opinion, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur could struggle to sign Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
First of all, the Blues and Spurs may not be able to or willing to pay £60 million for Laporte.
After all, the Spanish defender did not play much last season and is also 29.
Laporte would have no re-sale value.
Secondly, the defender himself may not be too keen on a switch to Chelsea or Spurs.
After all, the Blues are unlikely to challenge for the Premier League title next season, while Spurs tend not to.
