The 20-year-old could be set to replace the disappointing Filipe Luis.

Much was anticipated following Filipe Luis’ £15.8 million arrival from Atletico Madrid last year. However, the Brazilian failed to replicate his Atletico form at Stamford Bridge and found himself playing second fiddle to right-footed Cesar Azpilicueta for most of the season.

Jose Mourinho is now looking for a more reliable understudy to the Spanish full-back and, according to The Telegraph, has identified Abdul Rahman as his man.

The Ghanian left-back excelled at Ausburg last season, appearing 31 times and helping the club clinch their first ever place in the Europa League. The report also suggests a fee of £15 million will be required to attain his services.

Do Chelsea need Baba Rahman?

Known for his pace and all-action displays, Rahman would add an injection of energy into Chelsea’s left flank. He would provide a naturally left-footed option on the left flank and at 20 has plenty of years of development ahead of him.

However, Chelsea will surely take a hit if they do decide to sell Luis with it very unlikely another club would match the near £16 million paid for him.

It’s a risk Mourinho should be willing to take considering the Brazilian’s failure to settle into life in England and Rahman’s arrival could be just the antidote to Chelsea’s left back conundrum.
