CalcioMercatoWeb claim Chelsea are set to intensify their pursuit of Inter star Alessandro Bastoni in a bid to ‘bypass’ Tottenham and land the Italian’s signature. Bastoni has been strongly linked with a move to England this summer.
Bastoni, 23, has been a regular for Inter over the last three season – clocking up 118 appearances. It comes after Antonio Conte gave him the chance to break into Inter’s starting line-up in 19-20, and he has taken it.

Now a regular for club and country, Conte is back in for the defender. Reports on Wednesday claim that Conte is ‘crazy’ about Bastoni – with Spurs ready to tempt Inter with a £26million offer, plus Davinson Sanchez.
However, the same outlet claims Chelsea are also keen and ‘intend to get serious’ in the £60million race for Bastoni. They hope to convince the Italian and elbow both Tottenham and Manchester United aside to sign Bastoni.
Chelsea intensify Bastoni bid to ‘bypass’ Tottenham
Both clubs need Bastoni – but Chelsea more so. They have lost Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid, while Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta are due to leave the club on a free transfer this summer.
They desperately need defenders. Conte is keen on a left-footed central defender – with links to Pau Torres and Josko Gvardiol, too. But Ben Davies has been in stunning form over the past six months, for club and country.
Where will Bastoni go? If he wants trophies, then perhaps his best chance is to join Chelsea. But the chance to reunite with Conte at a club with arguably the best stadium in the world, will surely be tempting.
