Following the sale of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United, Chelsea are considering Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater as a replacement – according to the Daily Star.
Blues manager Antonio Conte wants to strengthen his squad as he prepares his team for a return to the Champions League and central midfield is now lacking after Matic’s departure to Old Trafford.

Leicester are firm with their stance that Drinkwater – who only signed a new four-year contract at the club in 2016 – is not for sale, however.
The 27-year-old is one of three players in the position the West Londoners are looking at, along with Everton’s Ross Barkley and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of Arsenal, with perhaps the homegrown quota at the back of their mind.
The loss of Matic and sale of Nathaniel Chalobah to Watford means that Conte has Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante and new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko as options in the middle of the park.
Yet with the Foxes adamant that Drinkwater is going nowhere and the player himself unlikely to want to give up a starting role at the King Power Stadium to become a squad player at Stamford Bridge, this move seems highly unlikely currently.
