Chelsea appear to have turned to the Newcastle United shot-stopper in their quest to sign a replacement for Asmir Begovic, but will their approach be considered by Rafa Benitez’s side?
Chelsea are expected to make an £8 million bid for Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow, according to the Guardian.
The Blues are said to be seeking cover for first-choice shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois, with the Belgian’s understudy Asmir Begovic the subject of an approach from Bournemouth.

However, with a bid for Celtic’s Craig Gordon turned down on Thursday (the Sun), the Premier League leaders are seemingly considering alternative targets.
Darlow, who was a Chelsea target in 2014 (Mirror), has established himself as Newcastle’s number one in recent months, having ousted £5.5 million summer signing Matz Sels, and the 26-year-old could be though to prise away from St James’ Park.

The prospect of a move to Stamford Bridge, however, would no doubt intrigue the former Nottingham Forest man, especially with Courtois recently named as a target for Spanish giants Real Madrid.
And the possibility of one day becoming Chelsea’s number one may outweigh a year or two on the Blues substitutes’ bench.
As well as Sels, Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez also has the fit-again Rob Elliot to call upon, while another reported for Antonio Conte’s side, Tim Krul, is due to return from a season-long loan to Ajax in the summer.
Should Newcastle United consider Chelsea’s approach for Darlow?
