Chelsea could rekindle their interest in Celtic’s Craig Gordon at the end of the season.

According to The Scottish Sun, Chelsea will continue to monitor Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon despite talks over a new contract with the Bhoys.

Gordon, 34, has revitalised his career since signing for Celtic on a free transfer in 2014, having been out of football for two years after being released by Sunderland in the summer of 2012.

The Scottish goalkeeper was initially signed as Fraser Forster’s backup, but the Englishman’s move to Southampton meant Gordon was installed as Celtic’s first-choice goalkeeper – and he hasn’t let them down.

Gordon has racked up almost 150 appearances for Celtic, and is on his way to winning a third straight league title with the Bhoys, with his performances attracting interest despite his advancing years.

As reported by The Times, Celtic rejected a £3million bid from Chelsea for Gordon’s signature before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, but that may not be the end of the tale.

The Scottish Sun report that, despite Gordon being in talks over a new deal until 2021, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will continue to pursue Gordon ahead of a possible summer move.

Blues backup Asmir Begovic is still believed to be keen on a summer move to Bournemouth, but with Chelsea keen to land a veteran goalkeeper to backup Thibaut Courtois before letting Begovic go, and Gordon remains a target.

However, with Celtic pushing ahead with talks to keep Gordon in Glasgow, manager Brendan Rodgers should be confident of fending off interest from one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
