Chelsea are looking at Everton’s Idrissa Gueye as an alternative to Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater.
The Blues have already had a bid of just under £20m for Drinkwater rejected by the Foxes, who are looking for more than double that as they seek £40m for the 27-year-old.
Danny Drinkwater of Leicester City holds off Jonathan Leko of West Bromwich Albion during the Premier League Asia Trophy match.
As a result the West Londoners are looking at alternatives, with Grzegorz Krychowiak of Paris Saint-Germain and Everton star Idrissa Gueye having emerged as possibilities.
Krychowiak has already attracted plenty of interest, with Arsenal and West Ham United the other Premier League teams thought to be keeping tabs, while Fiorentina, Lyon, Valencia and Zenit St Petersburg are other potential destinations.
Gueye is a new name to his list, though, having thought to have impressed those in charge at Stamford Bridge with his impressive performances for the Toffees over the past 12 months.
The 27-year-old has been favourably compared to current Chelsea ace N’Golo Kante for his strong displays in the middle, but is an important part of Ronald Koeman’s plans at Goodison Park so the Merseysiders are unlikely to want to sell.
