With transfer deadline day fast approaching Chelsea are making their move for reinforcements.
Chelsea are closing in on Inter Milan’s Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in a £25 million deal the Daily Mail has reported.
The signing is edging ever closer as Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his Chelsea side ahead of transfer deadline day, in what could be a busy couple of days for the Italian.
The availability of the midfielder has come about after the Milan side completed the £38.4 million signing of Joao Mario from Sporting Lisbon as reported by the BBC, leaving Chelsea the opportunity to make their move.
With Conte looking to add reinforcements before the transfer deadline on Wednesday, The Sun has also reported that Cesc Fabregas could be used as a makeweight in any deal that would see Brozovic moving to Stamford Bridge.
Currently Fabregas is out of favour at Chelsea and rather than bide his time and wait for his opportunity, he may make the decision to take his chances in Milan.

But with the Mail claiming that Conte is looking for more energy and aggression in midfield, this may be the clearest indication yet that Conte does not see a place for Fabregas anywhere in his midfield.

Conte’s pursuit of targets is taking in a thorough search of Serie A and alongside Brozovic, Chelsea are also looking at spending in excess of £50 million in bringing Lazio’s Stefan de Vrij and Fiorentina’s Marcos Alonso to Stamford Bridge as reported by the London Evening Standard as they mount a late charge to recruit reinforcements before the end of the transfer window on Wednesday.
