Chelsea appear to be backing away from Alexis Mac Allister amid a firm belief that he will end up joining Liverpool this summer.
That is according to Football London, who claim that Chelsea have been interested in signing the Argentinian.
Despite being impressed with his displays this season, it’s now claimed that Chelsea are cooling their interest in Mac Allister.
The reason appears to be the strong interest from Liverpool.
The Reds are making Mac Allister a top summer transfer target and are described as being ‘confident’ of signing him.
It’s stated that Mac Allister wants to leave Brighton this summer and Anfield seems to be his most likely destination.
That won’t end Liverpool’s interest in Mason Mount though, with the Reds keen to sign him as well as Mac Allister.
Chelsea still hope to keep Mount but there is a chance that Liverpool end up with both Mount and Mac Allister in midfield.

Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool: The latest reports
Rumours linking Mac Allister with Liverpool seem to have ramped up in recent days.
Fabrizio Romano reported last week that suggested that Liverpool’s move for Mac Allister was progressing well.
Romano suggested that Martinelli will ‘100%’ leave Brighton this summer and the Reds will push to secure his signature.
Argentinian reporter Cesar Luis Merlo then claimed that Liverpool have offered Mac Allister a five-year deal at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s men aren’t tapping up here; they will be offering potential deals through Mac Allister’s camp ahead of the summer window, if true.
Mac Allister has become a real star since joining Brighton for just £7million back in 2019.
The 24-year-old won the World Cup with Argentina in December and has now bagged 10 Premier League goals this season.
Chelsea may be splashing the cash left, right and centre but it looks like they’re expecting to miss out on Mac Allister to Liverpool.
