According to FOX Sports, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund are now moving in for Flamengo star Gerson after Tottenham Hotspur’s failed move.
It’s claimed that Gerson’s representatives hope to have a deal in place soon. They believe that a move to Europe may be on the cards this summer.
Gerson is contracted until 2023. That means Flamengo are demanding a high fee, somewhere in the region of €35million (£31million).
The two clubs pushing for Gerson’s signature are Dortmund and Chelsea, with Tottenham now seemingly out of the race.
Reports from Esportes emerged over the weekend, stating that Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho had recommended a deal for Gerson.
Tottenham came in with an offer of around €18million (£16million) for Gerson. They were unsurprisingly told that wasn’t enough.

Flamengo unsurprisingly want a big fee for Gerson. The 22-year-old has impressed since signing from Roma, hitting four goals and four assists in 41 games.
He’s a talented box-to-box midfielder who can play in a number of roles, whether deep, shuttling or playmaking. It’s no surprise that he is attracting interest, but Chelsea could now swoop in and sign Tottenham’s target.
