Tottenham and Lyon are competing to sign Cheikh Pape Diop.

Tottenham Hotspur and Lyon are battling to sign Celta Vigo midfielder Cheikh Pape Diop.
The Mail since claimed Lyon have outbid Spurs.

Olympique-et-Lyonnais.com conducted an interview with Spanish journalist Clemente Garrido of AS, who insists Tottenham are still the midfielder’s preferred option.
He states: “He prefers to go to Tottenham, but he does not rule out coming to Lyon.”
Garrido added: “Tottenham’s offer is good. The Celta is asking for something more and the player wants to go, but Lyon remains in the race.”

Lyon’s advantage
Lyon not only have the edge from offering Celta Vigo a superior offer, but the fact Tottenham are juggling so many other deals.
Spurs are pushing to conclude a triple swoop for defenders Serge Aurier, Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth, all three of who will require work permits.
With Tottenham having to concentrate on not slipping up on any of these, Lyon could really steal a march on their efforts to sign Diop if they are able to make him the sole focus of their attention.
