Charlton Athletic defender Patrick Bauer has been linked with Blackburn Rovers.

According to a report in the Lancashire Telegraph, Charlton Athletic will make one more attempt to keep hold of defender Patrick Bauer as Blackburn Rovers remain keen on signing the player this summer.
Bauer was Charlton’s playoff final hero. The talented central defender got on the end of the a 94th minute cross, firing past a despairing Sunderland goalkeeper at the second attempt to give his side a 2-1 victory.
The Addicks came from behind to beat the Black Cats, and deservedly won promotion back to the Championship. However, despite their success, they could still end up losing arguably their best player.
Bauer’s contract expires this summer and he has been on Blackburn’s radar for a while. The report in the Lancashire Telegraph claims Rovers saw to bids rejected for him last summer.
Blackburn are keen to strengthen their defence this summer. Paul Downing has just departed the club on a free, while Jack Rodwell’s contract also expires this summer following his short-term deal.

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer confirmed after the Wembley victory the club will offer Bauer a new deal. However, they face a fight to keep him regardless with Blackburn the more established club at Championship level.
Bauer has made no secret of his desire to play at a higher level, and the 26-year-old German defender has the attributes to feature regularly for a side pushing for promotion to the Premier League.
