According to The Mirror, there is interest in Aston Villa goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
It has been reported that there is interest from the Championship in Heaton, who is now the second choice goalkeeper at Villa.
Emiliano Martinez, who joined the Villans from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer of 2020, is the number one goalkeeper for Dean Smith’s side at the moment.
Stay or leave?
Martinez is playing well for Villa at the moment and has established himself as an important player in Smith’s team.
Unless the Argentine goes through a really bad spell or has an injury, it is hard to see him not play regularly for Villa.
Heaton is a good goalkeeper, and one would understand if he wanted to leave Villa and become a first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere.
However, Villa do need an able back-up to Martinez, and keeping the 34-year-old in the squad for the rest of the season would make sense for the Villans.
According to BBC Sport, Villa paid Burnley £8 million in transfer fees to sign Heaton in the summer of 2019.
