Everton are still attempting to land Besiktas hitman Cenk Tosun.
According to the Daily Mail, Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun is still confident that a deal to join Everton will be completed amid late concerns over his transfer.
Everton lost 2-0 at home to Manchester United on Monday night, meaning it’s now just one goal in the last four games for manager Sam Allardyce and his Toffees side.
It’s clear that Everton must bring in a goalscorer having failed to replace Romelu Lukaku over the summer, and a top target appeared to be nearing a move to Goodison Park.
The Guardian reported on Thursday that a £25million deal had been struck with Besiktas for the signature of striker Cenk Tosun, but that was thrown into some doubt on Monday.
The Mirror claimed that Besiktas raised their asking price at the last minute, leaving the deal hanging in the balance – but the Daily Mail report today that Tosun is still confident a deal will be done.
Besiktas’ asking price is believed to have jumped up to £27million, but Tosun still believes that Everton will quickly get a deal finalised in the near future.
Tosun, 26, has starred for Besiktas this term, hitting 14 goals in 24 games for the Turkish side, building on an impressive record of 50 goals in his first three seasons with the club.
Now though, Everton are looking to prise him away in a big-money January deal, and whilst there has been a £2m transfer fee stumbling block over the last 24 hours, they will still hope to have their new striker on board soon.
