Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong is reportedly on the verge of joining Southampton in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Southampton will pay Celtic a transfer fee of £7 million in order to secure the services of the 26-year-old midfielder.

The report has also claimed that the Scotland international has spoken to Saints’ manager Mark Hughes and will make the move this week.

Good move?
Armstrong did well during his time at Celtic, and although he was not exactly consistent, there is no doubt over the quality and calibre of the former Dundee United star.
The 26-year-old will have to step up, as the Premier League is a much better domestic league than the Scottish Premiership.

It could take a while for Armstrong to settle in the division, but with Hughes in charge, the Scotsman should feel confident.
It is also a good business for Celtic, as they have enough midfielders in their squad and do not exactly ‘need’ Armstrong.
