Celtic are reportedly pursuing a £3.5m move for Crystal Palace’s Jordon Mutch.

According to the Daily Mail, Celtic’s move for Crystal Palace midfielder Jordon Mutch could cost around £3.5m, with manager Brendan Rodgers and assistant Chris Davies believed to be real admirers.
Mutch, 24, has played just eight minutes for Palace in the Premier League this season, and he’s stuck behind the likes of Yohan Cabaye, James McArthur and Joe Ledley in Alan Pardew’s pecking order.
Less than two years after joining Palace from QPR – where he spent just six months and made only 11 games – Mutch may now be on the move again in January, with the nomadic midfielder being lined up for a switch in 2017.
The Daily Mail report that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and his assistant Chris Davies are huge fans of Mutch, and want to bring him to Celtic Park in January.

It’s claimed that Mutch’s potential move to Celtic could cost £3.5m, but Rodgers is keen to boost his midfield options having missed out on two Premier League players over the summer.
The report suggests that Celtic wanted Everton’s James McCarthy or West Brom’s James Morrison, but having missed out on both players, they’re now plotting a move to sign Mutch in January.

Mutch is contracted until 2019 though, and whilst he isn’t featuring in Pardew’s plans, Palace will look to recoup much of the £4.75m they spent on the midfielder by demanding a £3.5m transfer fee.
Mutch has failed to settle in recent years, but Rodgers’ transfers so far – such as Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele – show that he deserves the chance to mould his squad, and he may well succeed where others have failed by getting the best out of Mutch.
