According to the Daily Express, Celtic striker Moussa Dembele is now worth in the region of £40m – and Real Madrid have proposed a potential deal for the Frenchman.

Dembele, 20, joined Celtic at the end of his Fulham contract over the summer, and was initially seen as a promising young attacker who could sit behind Leigh Griffiths and give Brendan Rodgers another striking option.

However, the former Paris Saint-Germain youngster has become a star in Glasgow, smashing 15 goals in just 22 games for the Bhoys, including a hat-trick in the Old Firm derby against Rangers and two goals in the 3-3 draw with Manchester City in the Champions League.

Dembele’s exploits are unsurprisingly turning heads, and the Daily Express claim that Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all keen – but Real Madrid are leading the race for his signature.

It’s claimed that Dembele – whose move to Celtic cost just £500,000 according to Get West London – is now being valued at around £40m, which would be quite astonishing money for the Celtic ace.

Not many clubs in the world can afford to spend £40m on Dembele, but Real Madrid almost certainly can, and with manager Zinedine Zidane believed to be a huge fan of compatriot Dembele, it’s no surprise that Real are keen.

It’s claimed that Madrid have already held informal discussions over a deal which would see them sign Dembele but loan him back to Celtic to continue his development with the Bhoys.

Real actually have a transfer ban until 2018, but much like Barcelona’s transfer ban, it actually prohibits them from registering players rather than signing them.

Barcelona were able to sign the likes of Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan whilst under their ban, but were unable to use them until their ban ended.

In this proposal for Dembele, Real could sign him and loan him back to Celtic until they are able to register players again, in a move which could suit all parties – especially if the Bhoys land that alleged £40m valuation, as reports suggest.
