Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths missed the back end of the recently concluded campaign for the Bhoys, but they still went onto to record history.
Leigh Griffiths has re-joined the Celtic squad for pre-season and he could be in line to make a return to first-team action during the Champions League qualifiers, according to a report.
The Scotsman have claimed that the 28-year-old is in contention to return to competitive action against Sarajevo during Celtic’s European qualifier next month.
It is said that striker Griffiths could be in line to partake in Celtic’s friendly matches in Austria next week in preparation for those gruelling and tough Champions League encounters.
The news will no doubt delight the Celtic supporters because they will be very pleased that the future is bright for one of their star men.
Parkhead favourite Griffiths has not played for the Bhoys since December because he was addressing health issues off the field of play.
He is back and raring to go now as the experienced man could be key to Neil Lennon’s side winning their ninth Premiership title in a row next season.
The striker department has been a bit of a difficult one for Celtic because ever since the departure of Moussa Dembele, and the absence of Griffiths, no-one has been able to cement that forward role.
If Lennon can get that get a forward player putting the ball into the back of the net on a regular basis next season then Celtic will be very difficult to stop.
The spotlight does naturally land on Griffith’s head, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Treble treble winners adding another forward player to their ranks this summer.
