Jack Hendry has struggled to make an impact at Celtic.

Jack Hendry of Celtic controls the ball during the UEFA Europa League Group B match between FC Salzburg and Celtic at Red Bull Arena Wals-Siezenheim on October 4, 2018 in Salzburg, Austria.

According to The Sunday People (print edition, Sunday, page 54, September 15, 2019), Jack Hendry could leave Celtic this month.

It has been reported that Santa Clara, Tondela, Vitoria Guimaraes and Farense all are interested in signing the 24-year-old central defender this month, with the summer transfer window in Portugal open until September 22.

Interestingly, if the Scotland international defender decides to make the switch to Santa Clara, then he will be playing alongside former Rangers centre-back Fabio Cardoso, who joined the Portuguese club in 2018 after leaving the Gers.

Celtic struggles

Hendry joined Celtic from Dundee in January 2018 for a transfer fee reported by The Glasgow Evening Times to be worth £1.5 million.

Much was expected of the Scotsman when then manager Brendan Rodgers – now in charge of Premier League club Leicester City – brought him to Celtic, but the defender has failed to make a huge impact at the Hoops.

According to The Scottish Sun, the 24-year-old has played just 26 times for Celtic, and with the Hoops looking well stocked in defence, it would make sense for Hendry to move on.
