Norwich City are expected to appoint a director of football before hiring a new manager, the Eastern Daily Press reports.

The Canaries sacked Alex Neil ahead of Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home Blackburn Rovers, with Alan Pardew and Roy Hodgson emerging as the early front-runners to succeed the Scot at Carrow Road.

According to the Press Association, former Derby County boss Nigel Pearson has since thrown his hat into the ring, however, Norwich have reportedly prioritised the appointment of a new director of football.

Celtic’s head of development scouting, David Moss, is one name said to be in the frame, having helped to recruit the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Victor Wanyama during his time in Glasgow, with another Bhoys star, Moussa Dembele, crediting Moss for his efforts after landing the striker from Fulham last summer.

Celtic added former Sunderland director of football Lee Congerton to their recruitment team on Wednesday, which could pave the way for Moss’s Parkhead departure.

The former Swansea City and Crystal Palace academy manager has been with Celtic for the past six-and-a-half years in various roles.

Pearson, who led Leicester City into the Premier League and kept them there before his sacking two summers ago, left Derby four months into his tenure last September.
