Scott Sinclair is being linked with a move away from Celtic.
If we’re honest, Scott Sinclair hasn’t been brilliant since Neil Lennon took the reins at Celtic.
Lennon replaced Brendan Rodgers in February and a number of Hoops stars struggled for their best form under the former Hibernian boss when he returned to Parkhead.
Sinclair is definitely one of the players who didn’t adapt well to life under Lennon, having failed to score or set up a single goal after Rodgers left for Leicester City.
With that in mind, you can understand why Celtic are interested in selling the £2.5 million-rated winger [The Record] amid speculation about a move to Preston North End – but it’s a huge gamble.
Sinclair is the only proven left-sided winger that the Northern Irishman has.
The three alternatives to Sinclair are Lewis Morgan, Maryan Shved and Daniel Arzani – all three of whom are unproven in the Scottish Premiership, and one of which, Arzani, has just come off a long-term injury.
Sinclair might be out of form, but it’s worth remembering that this is a player who averages more than 20 goals per season since moving to Glasgow in 2016 and Lennon surely can’t say for certain whether Morgan, Shved or Arzani can bring to the table what the Englishman has been.
With Rangers looking very strong this season, there’s no margin for error if Celtic are to reach nine in a row and letting Sinclair go might jeopardise that.
