Celtic will complete the signing of Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo ‘within the coming days’, according to Sky Sport Austria.

The broadcaster claims Celtic have placed the left-back at the top of their wishlist, as they prepare to ‘hand’ Kieran Tierney to Arsenal for 25 million (around £22.4 million).

And it adds that Bolingoli-Mbombo – the Rapid Vienna player and cousin of the Manchester United striker, Romelu Lukaku – should replace the Scotland international, despite interest from Burnley of the English Premier League.

The report fails to state what sort of fee Celtic are likely to pay for the 24-year-old, who was recently valued at around £3 million, according to the Daily Mail.

Assuming that is accurate, the money raised from Tierney’s sale should allow the Bhoys – who have already added Christopher Jullien and Luca Connell since the end of last season – to strengthen in other parts of the pitch.

An attack-minded central midfielder could be next on the Celtic manager Neil Lennon’s wishlist, after the proposed signing of David Turnbull collapsed.

Is Bolingoli-Mbombo a worthy replacement for Tierney?
