Southampton will demand a minimum of £5 million for Fraser Forster as Celtic consider bringing the goalkeeper back for yet another spell in the Scottish Premiership, as reported by The Mail.
There are 99 problems facing Neil Lennon at present and the lack of a commanding presence between the sticks is just one of those.
Forster was nothing short of a revelation during a 2019/20 loan spell on the green side of Glasgow, his physics-defying reflex saves dragging Celtic through the Europa League group-stages before a one-man masterclass consigned bitter rivals Rangers to defeat in the Scottish League Cup final.
With Scott Bain, Conor Hazard and £5 million summer signing Vasilis Barkas failing to grasp the number one shirt since his departure, Forster has been badly missed at Parkhead.
The Athletic points out that Forster turned down the chance to stay at Celtic over the summer, his decision catching Neil Lennon and co by surprise.
But, after failing to oust Alex McCarthy as Southampton’s number one, the England international could re-ignire an on-again, off-again relationship with his old flame during the January transfer window.

Southampton want at least £5 million, however, with the 32-year-old likely to be far more expensive than alternative targets such as Dundee United shot-stopper Benjamin Siegrist.
But while Forster will not come cheap, the addition of a reliable, natural-born leader at the back feels priceless for a Celtic side who have conceded 33 goals in their last 15 games.
