Celtic have first refusal to make Odsonne Edouard’s loan move a permanent deal.

According to a report from the Daily Record, Celtic are planning to wait until the summer before they make a final decision on whether to make Odsonne Edouard’s loan move at Parkhead a permanent deal.

Edouard has really kicked on in recent times after a somewhat underwhelming start to life with the Hoops. The 20-year-old has taken his goals tally from six to eight in the last two games and proven to be a game-changer in both of the fixtures.

He rounded off the Scottish Cup win over Morton last weekend with the third goal, and bagged a much more important third goal on Sunday, as he scored the stunning winner in the latest Old Firm game – just moments after coming onto the pitch.

It seems highly likely that given the impact that the striker has made in the last two games that there will be a large group of fans wanting to see the loanee’s move converted into a permanent deal. And while the Record reports that Celtic have first refusal to sign the Paris Saint-Germain striker permanently and can do so for £7 million, they also suggest that the Bhoys will hold off making a decision until the summer.

Has Edouard given himself a chance of £7m move?

For much of the campaign, it appeared that Edouard stood little chance of tempting Celtic into considering a permanent deal as he struggled to push past Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele in the pecking order and make a significant impact in the side.

Despite making himself a hero in the last game and showing signs of considerable improvement in recent times, it would still be a surprising move from the Hoops to convert his deal as it would make him the club’s record signing.

But it certainly appears that there is hope for the youngster to prove in the coming months that he could worthy of that title. His recent form has done his chances of moving permanently no harm at all.
