According to the Daily Mail, Celtic have shown an interest in signing Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha – but he’s heading to Anderlecht instead.
It’s claimed that Nmecha is being sent to Belgium to try and rediscover some form under ex-City captain Vincent Kompany.
Kompany’s links to City have likely won Anderlecht the race for Nmecha, as there was plenty of interest in the German youth international.
Teams in Spain, Germany and the Championship wanted to sign Nmecha, whilst Celtic were also thought to be interested in a deal.
However, Nmecha is heading to Anderlecht barring a late hitch, and he will hope to finally show some of his quality.
The 21-year-old showed promise at Preston North End in the 2018-19 season, but struggled at Wolfsburg and Middlesbrough last summer.

A loan move to Celtic wouldn’t make much sense as things stand, as he would be unlikely to play regularly given that Neil Lennon already has Odsonne Edouard, Patryk Klimala and new signing Albian Ajeti.
Celtic may keep tabs on Nmecha’s progress in Belgium with a view to targeting him in the future, but they seem to have missed out for now.
