Brendan Rodgers has made Aberdeen forward Jonny Hayes one of his top targets in the transfer window.

According to a report in the Evening Express, Celtic were hopeful of completing the signing of Aberdeen’s Jonny Hayes before the end of the week.
Celtic have been tracking Hayes for much of the summer so far, with Brendan Rodgers a big fan of the attacker.
Hayes has been one of Aberdeen’s stars this campaign, and has contributed 11 goals and 24 assists for the Dons’ cause.

However, Celtic have found it more difficult to sign Hayes than they first anticipated, due to the volume of interest in him.
Cardiff City were interested in Hayes, but the Championship side have now pulled out of any deal for the attacker.

Birmingham City are also confident of securing Hayes’ signature, and are still in the race with Celtic.
Harry Redknapp wants to bring the Republic of Ireland international to St. Andrews and believes that a move to England could appeal.
